In Spain, the DELE costs between €112 and €240 depending on the level: €112 for A1, €138 for A2, €173 for B1, €204 for B2, €225 for C1 and €240 for C2. These are the Instituto Cervantes' official prices for 2026. Outside Spain, the price depends on the country. The 2027 prices haven't been published yet, but the 2027 exam calendar has.

Prices checked on 5 October 2026 against the official Instituto Cervantes price table.

How much does the DELE cost in Spain?

These are the official 2026 prices for taking the exam in Spain:

  • DELE A1: €112
  • DELE A2: €138
  • DELE B1: €173
  • DELE B2: €204
  • DELE C1: €225
  • DELE C2: €240

The source is the official DELE 2026 price table, linked from the Instituto Cervantes price page.

One detail that saves a lot of searching: the official table sets a single price per level for each country. In Spain you pay the same whichever exam centre you choose, so pick your centre for its dates and location, not its price. When you register in Spain, the Instituto Cervantes online shop shows you the price of your exam during checkout.

How much does the DELE cost in other countries?

Outside Spain, the Instituto Cervantes sets a price for each country, in the relevant currency. Some examples from the official 2026 table:

  • Germany: from €138 (A1) to €255 (C2). B2 costs €235.
  • France: from €115 (A1) to €205 (C2). B2 costs €192.
  • United Kingdom: from £130 (A1) to £245 (C2). B2 costs £205.
  • United States: from $128 (A1) to $210 (C2). B2 costs $176.
  • Mexico: from $105 (A1) to $180 (C2), in US dollars. B2 costs $150.

Every other country is in the same official PDF. Before you pay, confirm the price with your exam centre, which is the one that registers you outside Spain.

How much will the DELE cost in 2027?

Right now, nobody knows: the Instituto Cervantes hasn't published the 2027 price table yet. Its price page only links to the 2026 one.

What is confirmed is that registration for the 2027 exam sessions opens on 18 November 2026. If you register for 2027, the price that counts is the one the Instituto Cervantes shop (or your centre, outside Spain) shows you when you pay. In the meantime, the 2026 prices are a good guide for your budget.

What does the DELE fee include, and what costs extra?

The registration fee covers the whole exam (four papers from A1 to C1, three at C2), the marking and your results certificate. If you pass, your diploma is sent to you in digital format by email and you can also download it from your personal area on the Instituto Cervantes website. The diploma is valid indefinitely: it never expires.

There are two situations in which you pay again:

  • If you fail. The DELE doesn't carry over the papers you passed from one session to the next: if you get a NO APTO (fail), you pay the full registration fee again to resit.
  • If you ask for a review of your marks. A results review costs 60 % of the exam price (in Spain, with 2026 prices, €82.80 for A2, €122.40 for B2 or €135 for C1). That amount is refunded if the review changes your result from NO APTO to APTO. It's explained on the Instituto Cervantes results page.

And if you register and then can't make it, as a general rule you have 14 calendar days from registration to request a refund.

When are the DELE 2027 exam sessions, and when does registration close?

The 2027 calendar is now official. There are seven exam sessions, and not every level is examined in every one:

  • February: Friday 12 February (A2). Registration closes on 7 January 2027.
  • April: Friday 2 April (A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1). Registration closes on 10 February 2027.
  • May: Friday 21 May (school versions: A1, A2/B1 and B2/C1) and Saturday 22 May (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2). Registration closes on 7 April 2027.
  • July: Friday 9 July (A2, B1, B2 and C1). Registration closes on 12 May 2027.
  • September: Friday 10 September (A2). Registration closes on 14 July 2027.
  • October: Friday 15 October (A2, B1 and B2). Registration closes on 1 September 2027.
  • November: Friday 12 November (school versions: A1, A2/B1 and B2/C1) and Saturday 13 November (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2). Registration closes on 29 September 2027.

Notice that registration closes between five weeks and two months before the exam. My advice: as soon as you choose your session, put the registration deadline in your calendar with a couple of weeks to spare. Registration for all the 2026 sessions is already closed.

Where can you take the DELE?

The DELE is held at Instituto Cervantes centres and at accredited exam centres, in Spain and in many other countries. To find yours, use the official exam centre finder and filter by country and city.

Two things worth checking with the centre before you pay:

  • That it offers your level in the session you want.
  • Which day it holds the speaking test, because it can be on the same day as the written papers or on a different day before or after, depending on the centre.

In Spain, you register online in the Instituto Cervantes shop. I walk you through it screen by screen in How to register for the DELE step by step.

General DELE or DELE for schools?

The general DELE is aimed at candidates aged 16 and over and has six levels, from A1 to C2. The DELE for schools (DELE escolar) is aimed at students aged 11 to 17 and has three exams: A1 escolar, A2/B1 escolar and B2/C1 escolar. The last two have a double outcome: depending on your result, you get the lower or the higher level. In 2027 the school versions are held in May and November.

If you're registering a teenager, check carefully which one applies before you pay.

Frequently asked questions about the DELE price

How much does the DELE B2 cost?

In Spain, €204 with the official 2026 prices. In other countries it depends on the official table: for example, €235 in Germany, €192 in France or $176 in the United States.

How much does the DELE A2 for Spanish citizenship cost?

In Spain, €138 with 2026 prices. For citizenship you also need the CCSE, which costs €85. I explain both in CCSE and DELE A2: the two Spanish nationality exams.

Does it cost the same at every centre in Spain?

Yes. The official table sets a single price per level for Spain, so it makes no difference which centre you register with.

Are the DELE 2027 prices known yet?

No. As of 5 October 2026, the Instituto Cervantes has only published the 2026 prices. What is known is that registration for 2027 opens on 18 November 2026, and what the exam dates are.

If I fail, do I have to pay again?

Yes. Each session is paid in full and passed papers aren't carried over. That's why it pays to sit the exam once you know the format of every task well.

Can I get a refund if I can't sit the exam?

As a general rule, you have 14 calendar days from registration to request a refund. After that, it depends on the registration terms. I explain them in DELE terms and conditions made simple.
