The Instituto Cervantes has published the official DELE 2027 exam calendar. Here you have every exam session with its dates, the registration deadlines and, most importantly, which levels are examined in each one. Not every level sits in every session, and that detail completely changes how you need to plan your preparation.
The key facts: there are 7 DELE exam sessions in 2027 (February, April, May, July, September, October and November). Registration opens on 18 November 2026 for all of them. A2 is the level with the most options (7 dates) and C2 the one with the fewest (3 dates).
DELE 2027 calendar: all the exam sessions
These are the 2027 sessions according to the official Instituto Cervantes calendar. The date shown is for the written exam (reading, listening and writing); the oral exam may be on the same day or on a nearby date, depending on the centre.
February 2027 session
- Friday 12 February 2027: level A2 only
- Registration deadline: 7 January 2027
April 2027 session
- Friday 2 April 2027: levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1
- Registration deadline: 10 February 2027
May 2027 session
- Friday 21 May 2027: DELE escolar, the school version (A1, A2/B1 and B2/C1)

DELE 2027 exam dates by level
This is the summary you really need: the dates on which you can sit your level. Look carefully, because C2 only has three chances in the whole year and C1 isn't examined in October.

A2 is the level required, together with the CCSE test, for Spanish nationality. That's why it's the only level with a session in every month of the calendar.

If you're preparing for the C2, plan ahead: you only have three chances in the whole year, and four months go by between the July and November sessions.
When do I register for the DELE 2027?
Registration for every 2027 session opens on 18 November 2026 in the Instituto Cervantes online shop (tienda.cervantes.org). Each session closes around five or six weeks before the exam: 7 January for February, 10 February for April, 7 April for May, 12 May for July, 14 July for September, 1 September for October and 29 September for November.
My advice as an examiner: don't leave it to the last minute. The centres in highest demand run out of places before the deadline, especially for the May and November sessions, which are the biggest of the year. And the fees vary by country and centre, so check the price for your level on the official portal before you register.
Which exam session should I choose?
The question I get asked most. Here are the three criteria I always use with my students:
- How much real time you have to prepare for the exam. Knowing Spanish and knowing how to do the DELE aren't the same thing. If you don't yet know the format of each task well, leave at least two or three months to train it calmly.
- When you need the diploma by. Official results take approximately three months. If you need the A2 for a nationality application with a deadline, count back from that day and choose the session that leaves you some margin.
- Which sessions your level has. With an A2 you can wait for the next one if something goes wrong; with a C2 you can't. If your level has few dates, aim for the first one you can arrive at well prepared and keep the next one as a safety net.
What if you still want to sit the exam in 2026?
The November 2026 session is still to come: Friday 13 November for A2 and Saturday 14 November for A1, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Registration closes on 30 September 2026. The October session (16 and 17 October) closed its registration on 2 September.
Frequently asked questions about the DELE 2027 dates
Where do I register?
In the Instituto Cervantes online shop: tienda.cervantes.org. In Spain registration is online only: you create your account, choose your level, session and exam centre, fill in your details and pay the fees. Outside Spain, some centres handle registration directly, so check with your centre. If you're taking the A2 for Spanish nationality, you must register with your NIE. Is the oral exam on the same day?
It depends on the centre. It can be on the same day as the written exam or on a nearby date, before or after. The centre tells you in your exam summons.
Do I need to have passed the previous level?
No. You can register directly for whichever level you want. If you're not sure which one is yours, take my free level test first.
Does the DELE diploma expire?
No. The DELE is valid indefinitely. Once you get your APTO (pass), the diploma is yours forever.
