What is the DELE C2?

The DELE C2 certifies mastery: you handle any situation with complete effectiveness and appropriateness, understand practically everything you read or hear, and convey fine shades of meaning. It is the definitive qualification for philologists, translators and Spanish teachers. Like every DELE, it never expires.

Exam structure

The C2 consists of three papers, all with integrated skills — none of them tests a single skill in isolation.

PruebaDuración
1 · Uso de la lengua, comprensión de lectura y auditiva105 min
2 · Destrezas integradas: auditiva + lectura + expresión e interacción escritas150 min
3 · Destrezas integradas: lectura + expresión e interacción orales30 min (+30 de preparación)

How it is scored

In the C2 you must pass all three papers separately in the same exam session — there are no groups to compensate. A single “no apto” in one paper fails the whole exam.

2026 dates and registration deadlines

The C2 is only offered in May and November. The last chance in 2026 is 13–14 November, and registration closes on 30 September at examenes.cervantes.es. If you miss it, the next session will be in May 2027.

How to prepare

Online DELE C2 course created by an accredited official examiner: up-to-date practice tests that simulate all three papers, integrated skills step by step, correction of your writing and speaking, one-time payment and lifetime access for €99.

Frequently asked questions

How many C2 exam sessions are there per year?

Only two: May and November. If you miss November, the next one is in May of the following year — plan ahead.

How do you pass the DELE C2?

By passing all three papers separately in the same exam session. They do not compensate each other.

Is the C2 worth it if I already have the C1?

If your career is the language itself (translation, philology, teaching Spanish), yes: it is the only qualification that certifies mastery.

When are the results published?

Instituto Cervantes publishes results approximately 2–3 months after the exam.
