Learn about the 6 common mistakes that candidates for the DELE A2 exam make in the Written Test:

1. Not complying with the guidelines or forgetting any of them.

You have to read the instructions very well and also the guidelines they give you. You have to include ALL the guidelines in your texts. Don't forget any. Because, just by writing about all the guidelines, you guarantee yourself 34% of the points.

2. Do not change the verb tenses.

In the guidelines, you will see that there are verbs in different verb tenses, because some have verbs in the present, others in the past and others in the future. You can guide yourself from them to know when to use one time or another. But, always make sure you don't write using just one verb tense. You'll be able to use:

  • Simple present: study
  • Continuous present: I am studying
  • Imperfect past tense: I was studying
  • Simple past perfect tense (indefinite): I studied
  • Past perfect compound tense: I have studied
  • Near future: I'm going to study

3. Do not put connectors between sentences.

Connectors are essential for connecting phrases. The most basic ones you should use are:

  • And, and, not.
  • Oh, u.
  • But.

4. Do not use discursive markers.

To give your texts a better structure, use speech markers. In this video I tell you about them

5. Punctuation symbols.

Don't forget to use semicolons, and question marks (?) and exclamation (!) suitable. When you finish writing, check that you don't miss them.

6. Spelling errors.

Spelling is important and needs to be taken care of.

1. Learn when to give accents to words with this video:

2. And remember that in Spanish, months, days of the week, nationalities, languages and professions are not written with capital letters (large letters). Proper names (first name, last name, cities, countries) are capitalized.

It's good to know common mistakes to avoid mistakes and lose points. Remember to review all of this before your exam is over.
