Some people take the DELE exam out of necessity: perhaps they want to obtain Spanish nationality, they have asked for it at work or it is a requirement to apply for a scholarship or become a public servant.
But when I ask them the question “Why are you doing the DELE?” to my students, a large percentage of them respond to me: “to improve my Spanish”.
And does preparing for the DELE help in this regard? In other words, if you prepare for this level exam, will you be able to feel better with Spanish?
Well yes. It's a fact.
The DELE exam touches on all skills:
- reading comprehension,
- listening comprehension,
- written expression and interaction
- and oral expression and interaction.
Surely you already know which of these you are best at and which of these you are at your worst. (“giving something right” or “giving something wrong” are used to talk about an ability and are equivalent to “being able to do something well” and “being able to do something wrong” respectively).
Well, practice to get the job done in the DELE It forces you to practice all skills equally and to insist on the one you do the worst until you bring it up to the level of the rest 📈.
In addition, the DELE makes you study in a more consistent way.
Are you one of the students who need to have some pressure to sit down and study seriously?
Signing up for the DELE, having an exact date on which to show how much you have learned and improved, will do you study with more focus and more recurrently, because when the exam date comes, you'll want to do your best. You can't fail!
