Perhaps the idea of taking a level exam hangs in your head, an exam to prove all the Spanish you know, the DELE for example. But what call are you applying for? How much preparation time do you really need?

The first thing to consider is the following: before you start preparing for a DELE X level exam, you must have reached that level. First, focus on knowing everything within that level and then worry about the exam.

This self-level test can help you decide, if you don't know what level you are at: https://aporeldele.com/test

Once you have reached the level you want, then the preparation for the DELE, specific to this exam, begins. It is advisable to prepare for the DELE exam for about 3 months, but of course, this is very relative and depends on the actual preparation time you can give it. For example, if you can study, model exams and prepare tests for about 4 or 5 hours a week, you could prepare for the DELE exam without problems in 3 months and even in 2 months (if you are already at the exam level).

I don't recommend extending the preparation beyond 7 months because you lose motivation and you don't tend to be as consistent with the study taking the exam so far away. But as they say: each person is a world and everyone has to know their times, their needs, this is nothing more than a generalization.

One last tip: if you don't know when to start, start preparing now. It's never late and it's never too early!
